Day 1 – What’s Your Story?

This series is written in conjunction with the Write 31 Days Challenge and Five Minute Friday’s 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes. Each post in this series will be written in five minutes (or there abouts) based on a list of one word writing prompts that has been provided.

I’ve wanted to take part in the Write 31 Day Challenge for a few years, but I always chickened out in the end as it just seemed too much and I didn’t want to fail. Well, there’s no right way to do this challenge…and there’s no wrong way either! I’m doing it my way!! So, here goes with Day 1…

Sharing our story can sometimes be a daunting prospect. I’m not referring to what we did yesterday at work or what we did over the weekend. I am referring to our deepest, darkest stories that bring about light and hope to others. The stories of what we have been through in our childhood, our marriages, our friendships, our parenting…the list is endless.

We may think our story may not be worth much, but our story can be worth a whole heap to someone going through a similar situation. They need to see a glimpse of hope. Hearing how someone else has suffered and triumphed brings relief. Relief that they are not alone in what they are going through and one day they will triumph too.

There are countless stories in the Bible of people going through hardships. God has used them to testify to others, and to us, of His love grace, and mercy. God didn’t stop with the people in the Bible though. He is using and working through each one of us to testify to others.

Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. Philippians 1:12

We have a story. We just need to be brave enough to share it.

What is your story?

Who will you share your story with today to bring encouragement to them?

  1. Hi there! Found you through the 31 day writing challenge linkup (#39). This is my first time doing the challenge as well. You’re right, sometimes we think our story isn’t worth much, but to that one person, it can mean a lot! I’ve found that in my own life with just sharing with others. When someone says “Me, too” and feels less alone, then it’s been worth it. 🙂

    1. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the challenge. It’s great to hear you have been able to share your story and that people have resonated with it. I hope God uses you in more ways to bless others in the future.

  2. You’re so right. It’s like a textual Reeses – there’s no wrong way to participate. I’m so glad you dove right in! I’ve debated participating for the last few years, and decided it was time. Here’s to sharing our stories.

  3. Welcome to the Write 31 Days challenge! It IS challenging, but it’s also fun. You’re so right. We need to share the deep stories because they matter, and they could have the power to speak into another life. I’m visiting you today from FMF.

Thank you for taking the time to read. If you like what you have read today, then please leave me a comment and let me know what you thought.
