He’s Still Writing My Story

He’s Still Writing My Story

I hate leaving a task half finished and incomplete. It looks imperfect. Before I move onto anything else, I like to make sure what I have done is finished. I then feel like I have accomplished something worthwhile.

I feel fulfilled. Complete.

I like to try and do that with my life too. I pack things, or situations, into little boxes (in my mind) and have everything segregated properly. I want my life to feel like I have accomplished something worthwhile. I want to feel fulfilled. Complete.

It doesn’t quite work like that though does it?

One of the definitions of complete is having run its full course. Well, I’m still here, so I guess my life has not finished running it’s full course.

A bible reading I keep coming back to when I feel incomplete is one that reminds me God is still doing a good work in me. And He won’t stop!

I pray with great faith for you, because I’m fully convinced that the One who began this glorious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you and will put his finishing touches to it until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ! Philippians 1:6

I’ve been listening to a song lately by Mandisa called ‘Unfinished‘. It reminds me God is still working on me and has not finished with me yet. If you get a moment, have a listen and let it uplift you. You can find the lyrics here, but I just want to leave you with the best words from the chorus for you to take hold:

He started something good and I’m gonna believe it

He started something good and He’s gonna complete it

So I’ll celebrate the truth

His work in me ain’t through

I’m just unfinished

Five Minute Friday - Complete

This was written for the Five Minute Friday Community, where a number of writers gather for a weekly writing challenge around a single word prompt and write to our hearts content, but only for five minutes (or there abouts).

This weeks word prompt is ‘complete’. Click here if you want to see what other people wrote. You can also have a go yourself. What do you think of when you hear the word ‘complete ’?

  1. It’s encouraging to know that God is committed to finishing his work in us! I love the Mandisa song too. I hadn’t heard it before until I discovered it in someone else’s FMF post!

  2. very assuring to realise that God still has a work to do in us – I am not perfect yet….. and as our God is faithful, he will complete the task!

Thank you for taking the time to read. If you like what you have read today, then please leave me a comment and let me know what you thought.
