I like a good challenge. Something I can get my teeth into. But sometimes I come across situations where I feel I’m not good enough to do the task at hand. I start to make excuses as to why I am not the right person…
…Surely there is someone else far better than me that can do the job…
…What if I fail and get it wrong…
…Am I good enough…
…what will other people think of what I do…
Do these sound familiar to you? Are you nodding with me right now and relating to these excuses?
Even Moses used excuses when he felt he could not deliver the people to the promised land:
But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:11
But guess what folks? Moses did it! Ok, so it took some time, but he did it. All Moses did was ask God for His help and God provided for him the means and ways to do it.
If God calls you to do something and you don’t feel big enough to do it, instead of making excuses as to why you can’t, ask God to provide you with the means and ways to do it.
God calls you because He wants YOU! Not anyone else. He calls you because He knows you can do it.Â

So good! I think we all tend to do this… a silly attempt to try to talk God out of calling us to do something! Of course – He called us on purpose and He has/will equip us… plus -Bonus!- He goes WITH us and partners with us to do whatever He has given us to do! Great post!
Thank you Karrilee for your lovely comments. We do the human response when God calls us. We forget actually that He already knows how everything turns out and He knows what is best and exactly what we need to be equipped. It’s remembering this that is the hardest challenge I think.
My mind went to Moses too when I saw the prompt! I definitely relate to the excuses so it is encouraging to remember that God didn’t give up on Moses but he gave him what he needed to fulfil the call.
It is encouraging to see a great leader like Moses can have doubts too about his abilities – after all he was only human! We need to hold onto the fact that God will be with us and will help us just like He did with Moses.
I didn’t think about Moses – great connection. He gave so many excuses, and had Aaron stand in, but he grew and grew through so many tests – and his faith became amazing. Love this!
