Day 25 – What Captures your Heart

What captures your heart? What are you passionate for? What makes you get all fired up as soon as you hear a certain word?

These are questions we may ask when we are in High school wondering what career we want. But what about when we are older? Does our passions change as we go through life?

What about in our Christian walk?

When I was younger, I remember being on fire for God. I would go to Christian gatherings and leave with a passion in my heart so burning I wanted to shout out about it.

What changed?

Life.

I settled down and made a life with my family. I love the life I have, but along the way the burning desire I had fizzled out a little.

Until now.

Over the past year or so, I have had a desire to serve God more. A desire which has been growing each day. It’s like my heart has been captured all over again. This time though, I won’t let go. I will search and find the gifts I have and use them for God’s work.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Colossians 3:23

Day 23 – One Thing in Common

I go to such a diverse church. It’s so diverse we have over 15 languages represented. We also have four different types of services to accommodate everyone’s needs, including a French speaking service.

Every one of us is different, from our background, to how we are brought up, where we come from, what we bring, what we do for a living, and so on.

But we all have one thing in common.

Day 22 – Don’t be Afraid to Ask for Help

I struggle a lot to ask for help. It’s not because I don’t want it or don’t need it. I do need it. I’m quite confident and strong and very independent. I feel when I ask for help, all these qualities are taken away from me.

It makes me look weak.

Day 21 – Start in the Right Way

Ever since we found out I was pregnant with twins, we have been looking at how we can get our other children a little more independent. We know looking after twins with three other children isn’t going to be easy. Actually, it’s probably going to be down right hard work.

We needed our children to be a little more self-sufficient. I know it might help me in the long run, but it will also help them. As parents, we can’t keep following behind them cleaning up their messes. They will need to learn to start clearing up after themselves.

So, we started a routine with them. One which we hope will stay with them for a long time. Maybe even until they have their own kids in which they can pass their wisdom on to. Who knows? All we can do is hope and pray that what we teach our kids now, will stay with them and they will not turn from it.

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

Day 20 – Who is our Audience?

Whenever we are praising God, or maybe taking part in a service, who is our audience? When you are raising your hands in the air, who are you most concerned with impressing?

Is it the person sat next to you, who’s been in the same seat for the last 20 years? Or are you taking part because it’s what is expected?
