Small Steps Back to God: Reconnecting With My Faith

I have been thinking about how I can change things to reconnect with God in my faith.

I have mentioned before that my faith has taken a bit of a nose dive and I have been struggling to recognise or feel God around me. It’s hard to keep on praising when struggles last for so long. (Anyone with me on that one?)

Being on holiday has given me a chance to reflect. In the past when I have felt like this, I would sign up for courses that would deepen my faith. I would start well, but then after a few days or weeks, I’d give up. It was hard to keep on track and, if I missed a day, I felt guilty.

So, whilst on holiday, I have been thinking about how to make this easier for myself.

I wanted to start small, because if I’m honest, small is all I have got! And God takes, and accepts, whatever I can give, no matter how big or small.

I’ve decided to spend five minutes in the morning with my first coffee of the day, reading.

Five minutes may not seem like much, but to a working mother with five kids and a whole heap of demands, five minutes is precious time.

With the help of Becky Keife’s book, A Verse a Day for the Anxious Soul, I’m learning to reconnect with God again.

Becky’s book is perfect if, like me, you want to start somewhere small. Her daily readings are just the right size to start each day when life is busy. They give me something to reflect on without feeling like there is another thing I have to achieve.

Perhaps that’s what I’ve needed—to stop trying to do everything perfectly and simply start again, one small step at a time.

Five minutes. One coffee. One reflection.

And a little bit of time, reconnecting with God. ❤️

If this sounds like something you’d like to try for yourself, A Verse a Day for the Anxious Soul by Becky Keife is available to buy in the UK. I bought mine through Amazon, but I’ve also found it on Eden, where it’s currently 14% off.

I’m sharing the links simply because I’ve found this little devotional so helpful in getting me reconnected with God again.

Thank you for taking the time to read. If you like what you have read today, then please leave me a comment and let me know what you thought.
