Day 29 – Put Your Heads Together

The Bible is full of verses about working together as a team. It’s far better to work with those around you than be on your own. First of all, you get to accomplish twice as much.

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their toil. Ecclesiastes 4:9

Working together also helps to create a harmonious atmosphere, rather than one which is full of conflict and strife.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:24

In a team, we may find we don’t see eye-to-eye with someone. After all, everyone is different and we all possess unique gifts. We have to learn to love each other and to be patient. It helps us to grow spiritually and it creates character.

May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Romans 15:5

The only way to achieve God’s will is by working as a team. As one. It’s makes us stronger to fight against the battles we face.

Day 28 – What Song is in Your Heart?

God has put a song into your heart. Do you know what it is? It’s something that will have you wanting to shout from the rooftops. You will want everyone to know what you are celebrating.

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD. Psalm 40:3

I find comfort in the words of songs I sing. Most songs I like, but occasionally there will be one which touches my heart. One that really resonates with me.

I will throw my hands in the air when I sing of being in dark places and how God has shed His light. I will sing aloud when I hear music describing how God has mended my broken life.

I was once a broken vessel, but He has made me whole. This is my song. This is what I want to shout from the rooftops.

My favourite song to listen to at the moment is ‘What I Know‘ by Tricia Brock. I hope it gives you a song in your heart like it does with me.

Day 27 – The Whole is Greater than the Sum of its Parts

The connection of ingredients or elements, that when put together produce a complete effect that is considerably enhanced over the sum of the individual elements.

If you are a cake maker, which I am totally not, you will know that each ingredient is important into making the cake as a whole. Any individual ingredient missed out would make the cake tasteless, or at worst, inedible.

Let’s think about ourselves for a moment. If we separate ourselves into the individual parts we are made up of, such as the lungs, heart, brain, eyes, we wouldn’t be classed as a human beings anymore. Even though each individual part is really important, they are easily replaced. Whereas the person as a whole cannot be replaced.

If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 1 Corinthians 12:17

This is the same with any community we live in, or church we are part of. Each individual person with their talents are really important, but working together as a whole is far greater than working alone.

Day 25 – What Captures your Heart

What captures your heart? What are you passionate for? What makes you get all fired up as soon as you hear a certain word?

These are questions we may ask when we are in High school wondering what career we want. But what about when we are older? Does our passions change as we go through life?

What about in our Christian walk?

When I was younger, I remember being on fire for God. I would go to Christian gatherings and leave with a passion in my heart so burning I wanted to shout out about it.

What changed?

Life.

I settled down and made a life with my family. I love the life I have, but along the way the burning desire I had fizzled out a little.

Until now.

Over the past year or so, I have had a desire to serve God more. A desire which has been growing each day. It’s like my heart has been captured all over again. This time though, I won’t let go. I will search and find the gifts I have and use them for God’s work.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Colossians 3:23
