The butterfly is my favourite insect. It always reminds me there is hope. They start their life as a caterpillar not knowing what changes are going to happen in their lives. Did you know, butterflies do all their growing when they are a caterpillar? Once they turn from a caterpillar into a butterfly, that’s it. No more growth.
Going through life as a caterpillar must be quite painful at times. Not knowing who or what is around the corner waiting to eat them. They work hard eating all day, and for what? We know they build themselves up ready to be something more beautiful, but do they?
When a butterfly has gone through the difficult stage of being a caterpillar, not knowing what they are to become, they then have further darkness when they turn into a chrysalis. Just when things couldn’t get any worse!
When a butterfly is ready, it will hatch from the chrysalis. It has a new birth and is looking beautiful. Finally, the butterfly is rewarded for the waiting she has done. But what happens if the butterfly is damaged in some way?
Can they still fly?
Can they still live?
Do they still look beautiful?
The answer to all these questions is yes. Whether they can fly or not, butterflies will still live. They can also have its broken wings mended. With time, care and patience over mending the broken wing, you would be rewarded and the butterfly will fly again.
We are not too dissimilar to the butterfly. We may feel we go through dark times where we seem to be waiting for nothing. God is working though even in our dark times, and we will see a new birth at the end of our struggles.
God is working though even in our dark times, and we will see a new birth at the end of our struggles. Share on XWe may feel we are broken beyond repair and unable to fly again. Our life is never like it was. That may be true, but I would say we are able to fly again if we spend time nurturing what is broken. It may never look how it was before, but you will be rewarded and made new again.
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17

This weeks word prompt is ‘reward’. Click here if you want to see what other people wrote. You can also have a go yourself. What do you think of when you hear the word ‘reward ’?
I feel like I’m always going to be stuck in the caterpillar/chrysalis stage. LOL. I like how you used the butterfly as an illustration. Beautiful.

Sometimes the caterpillar stage feels like forever. One day, you will look back and see how you have grown so much and what you have turned into.
