Whenever we are praising God, or maybe taking part in a service, who is our audience? When you are raising your hands in the air, who are you most concerned with impressing?
Is it the person sat next to you, who’s been in the same seat for the last 20 years? Or are you taking part because it’s what is expected?
When praising God, we need to make sure we have the right heart. If we are more concerned with how others around us are viewing what we are doing, then we are not playing to the right audience.
We are completely missing the point when we focus on who or what is around us. We should be focussed on the Reason why we worship. The reason is God.
We should be more concerned with how we meet God in our praising and worshipping, not how we meet our neighbour. Whether we can raise our hands higher doesn’t get us any closer to God. He wants to see the true meaning of why we worship. He wants to get deep within our hearts.
Let God be the One we have to please. Let’s make God be our audience.
God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:24
