31 Days Of Bible Affirmations – Day 7 – I Am Accepted

31 Days of Bible Affirmations – Day 7 – I Am Accepted
I am Accepted
to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
Ephesians 1:6

A child longs to feel accepted by those around them, especially by family and close friends. Children crave their parents attention to know they are doing well. When a child lacks the security they need, they carry the fear of rejection later on in life.

When we carry this fear of not being accepted as adults we start to look for it in other places. We still need that reassurance as adults that we are fully accepted, just as ourselves.

Accepted no matter what we have been through in our past.
Accepted even when our lives are in a mess.

I forget sometimes that I don’t need to turn to anyone else when I feel rejected. I am accepted by the One who matters. God. He is the one that can fill the void when I feel unworthy. He loves and accepts us just as we are.

Something to think about…

Why not have a go at personalising Ephesians 1:6 and re-write in your own words what you feel God is saying to you. You could also use my version and change to your own name.

Lynne, I have abounding grace. So much that I freely give it to you. Why? Because I love you and I accept you. No questions asked.

If you enjoyed reading my thoughts on today’s Bible affirmation then why not catch up on my other thoughts for previous days.

Day 14 in God’s Love – Loving Me For Who I Am

I often wonder why God loves me. What do I need to do to earn His love? Is He really loving me for who I am?

God doesn’t love us because of the service we are doing for Him. It’s nothing to do with how many people we win for Him. It’s not even because we are super confident with praying or whether we spend hours in the Bible each day.

God loves us because he just does! No questions asked. He always has and always will. For us to taste his love and experience it we need to be in a relationship with him.

Does God love me for who I am?

As I have been reading through the Bible verses which describe God’s love, I have been questioning whether the verses could be applied to myself. Have you felt the same too?

We have our faith in Jesus Christ because He died on the cross for us. That’s a pretty major thing for God to do for little old us. Think about it, God sent His One and only Son into our world to die for us.

He died for me.

He died for you.

Something to think about…

Because of this amazing act of selfless love, we can say we are accepted for who we are. God didn’t say to us “you must change before I let my Son die”. No! He sent Him to die just as we were. If that’s not true love, I don’t know what is. Think about it.

Prayer

Lord, we get days where we forget who we are in you. We forget just exactly how much you love us. Help us to remember what sacrifice you gave up for us. Amen.

31 Days In God’s Love

Last year, for the first time, I took part in the write for 31 days challenge. Bloggers pick one topic and write a post on that topic every day in October. I have decided to take part in the challenge again this year – and it will be a challenge!

If you have read previous posts you will realise I am a little busier than usual. The topic I have chosen to write is one I have found difficult to grasp. Especially in the current season I am in raising little ones. I will be spending the next 31 days in God’s love.

Through experiences and relationships with other people, a lot of us grow up not believing how much God loves us. This can be through a range of reasons:

  • Hurt from other people
  • Choices we have made
  • Broken relationships
  • Feelings of not being worthy

There are so many references to God’s love in the Bible it can be overwhelming. But then I guess that’s what God’s love is really like – overwhelming! I want to focus on the following over the next 31 days:

  • God’s love is steadfast and unchanging
  • God’s love can comfort
  • God will reveal His love through Jesus Christ
  • God pours His love into us through the Holy Spirit
  • Once we know how much God loves us, we are then compelled to love one another

In spending the next 31 days in scripture, I want to go deeper in the knowledge that God loves me. I don’t want to just know this in my mind though. My prayer is that I feel God’s love deep down in my heart. I am also praying this for whoever comes on this journey with me.

Will you join me in delving deeper over the next 31 days in God’s love?

What’s In A Name?

This was written for the Five Minute Friday Community, where a number of writers gather for a weekly writing challenge around a single word prompt and write to our hearts content, but only for five minutes (or there about! I have marked where my five minutes stopped).

This weeks word prompt is ‘name’. Click here if you want to see what other people wrote. You can also have a go yourself. What do you think of when you hear the word ‘name’?

When I was growing up through school I was an easy target. With moving around a lot, I was always the new girl in class and I had very little self confidence. As a result, I was the class victim for everyone’s amusement. The problem though was I didn’t find it very funny.
